Diamond Shaped Face

The characteristics of a Diamond shaped face are as follows:
A small forehead and widest at eyes and cheekbones, narrowing to a small chin. Many women have balanced their small forehead with their hairstyle and their face may appear to be heart-shaped.

Goal: Narrow cheekbones, add width to forehead and jaw.

Hairstyle:

Asymmetrical is best
Side part
Bangs are a must and should sweep to the side
Fullness at the chin, even if behind the ears
Mid neck hair length

Eyeglasses:

Softly cured styles, not wider than tip of cheekbones
Frames should be slightly heavy at top
No decorative temple styles
Square frames with straight tip with rounded bottoms

Earrings:
No diamonds or squares
Combination of straight and curved best
Earrings should have more width than length

Square Shaped Face

The characteristics of a Square shaped face are as follows:
A broad jaw line and forehead with wide, angular cheekbones and chin.
Goal: To make the face appear longer.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical is best
  • Side part
  • Bangs optional; should sweep to side
  • Fullness at the crown and temples
  • Chin length hair
Eyeglasses:
  • Slightly angular shapes with curved corners
  • Select frames with some weight at top
  • Frames should appear more vertical than horizontal
  • Stark geometric frames will create a fashion-forward look
  • Color concentrated on the outer frame corner will elongate face
  • Decorative or contrasting color near temples above eye level

Earrings:

  • No squares
  • Combination of straight and curved best
  • Earrings should have more length than width
Oblong Shaped Face


The characteristics of an Oblong shaped face are as follows:
The forehead, cheek and jawline are similar in width. The face appears long and thin.

Goal: To make the face appear shorter and wider.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical or symmetrical
  • Hair too long with elongate the face
  • Bangs optional
  • Fullness at the side necessary
  • Chin length hair
Eyeglasses:
  • Styles that extend beyond the widest part of the face
  • Round, deep, square or low-triangle shapes will shorten and soften the face
  • Frames with strong horizontal lines
  • Decorative or contrasting color will add width to temples
  • Frames with low temples and bridges shorten the face
Earrings:
  • Avoid dangle and droop earrings
  • Any shape is good
  • Earrings should have more width than length
Heart Shaped Face

The characteristics of a Heart shaped face are as follows:
The forehead is the widest part of the face, tapering gradually to the chin, which is slightly pointed. Cheekbones are high.

Goal: To make the forehead appear narrower, while adding width tot he chin and cheek areas.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical or symmetrical
  • Hair should be full at chin and neck
  • Bangs optional
  • Avoid too much fullness at crown
  • Chin length hair
Eyeglasses:
  • Minimize upper portion of face by selecting frames no wider than your forehead and angling outward at bottom corners

  • Aviator styles good

  • Slightly curved styles

Earrings:

  • Triangles broadest at bottom

  • Any shape as long as there is some width

  • Earrings should have more width than length

Triangle/Pear Shaped Face

The characteristics of a Triangle/Pear shaped face are as follows:
The forehead is the narrow part of the face, tapering out to the cheek and chin area.

Goal: To make the cheek and chin areas appear less wider, while adding width to the forehead.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical or symmetrical
  • Hair should be it's fullest at and above ears tapering gently outward and down to the neck area
  • Slight or full bangs
  • Avoid too much fullness below ears
  • Chin length hair
Eyeglasses:
  • Minimize lower portion of face by selecting frames no wider than your forehead and angling outward at top corners

  • Select frames with some weight on top

  • Frames should appear more horizontal than vertical

  • Slightly curved frames are best

Earrings:

  • No triangles

  • Square, round or curved with evenness in shape

Oval Shaped Face


The characteristics of an Oval shaped face are as follows:
The chin is slightly narrower than the forehead with high cheekbones. This face is considered ideal because is will balance and give the face proportion.

Goal: To make maintain balance and proportion.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical or symmetrical
  • Any hairstyle will work with this facial shape
Eyeglasses:
  • Maintain balance by selecting by selecting frames as wide or slightly wider than the broadest part of face.

  • Avoid low, swooping temples that will disturb the balance

  • Can wear most any style

Earrings:

  • Can wear most any style

Round Shaped Face


The characteristics of a Round shaped face are as follows:
The face appears full with very few angles. The length and width of the face appear almost equal.

Goal: To elongate and narrow the face.

Hairstyle:
  • Asymmetrical is best
  • Short or below mid neck styles are best
  • Avoid chin-length styles
  • Fullness at crown
Eyeglasses:
  • Minimize roundness of face by selecting angular styles no wider that the widest part of face

  • consider slightly curved, soft squares to balance the face

  • Avoid very round or square styles

  • Clear bridges

  • Color on the temple will appear to lengthen the face

Earrings:
  • Avoid round shapes
  • Select shapes slightly longer than wide
  • Combination of straight and curved lines
